Stick and split is developed and published by Sunflower Learning Ltd This privacy policy sets out how Sunflower Learning Ltd. uses and protects any information that you give Sunflower Learning Ltd when you use Stick and Split.

Sunflower Learning is committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected. Should we ask you to provide certain information by which you can be identified when using this website, then you can be assured that it will only be used in accordance with this privacy statement.

Sunflower Learning Ltd may change this policy from time to time by updating this page. You should check this page from time to time to ensure that you are happy with any changes. This policy is effective from 24th June 2020.

What we collect

If you are a member of staff in a school, when you sign up for an account we collect the following information (Data Set A):

  • your name

  • your contact details (including email address)

  • your school's contact details

For children playing the game we collect data on their name and how they progress through playing Stick and Split (Data Set B)

What we do with the information we gather

(Data Set A) We require this information to understand your needs and provide you with a better service, and in particular for the following reasons:

  • to register your school for our service

  • for our internal record keeping and billing,

  • to enable us to answer your queries,

  • to report on the progress of children using Stick and Split

  • to verify your identity for security purposes,

  • to send you updates or information on our services, if you have asked us to.

We will hold this data for as long as you remain a customer of Sunflower Learning and for 2 years afterwards to allow us to comply with requests for access.

(Data Set B) You remain Controller of the data with regard to the child's name. You consent to give Sunflower Learning access to the all other data in this set to enable us to 

  • Analyse how children learn from Stick and Split

  • Report to you on how children are performing with Stick and Split

  • Check a child using Stick and Split is the same child who was using the game on the same device earlier

We will hold this data for 5 years. 


We are committed to ensuring that your information is secure. In order to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure we have put in place suitable physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online. Your data is kept within the EU.

You control access to your school’s data via user accounts that only you (or Sunflower Learning on request) can create. It is your responsibility to safeguard the password information and only give it to people you trust.

In the unlikely event of a data breach, we have a process in place to detect, report and investigate it. We will inform the Data Controller within 24 hours of establishing that their data was affected.


You retain ownership of all data you enter or upload into Sunflower Learning, and have ultimate control over who has access to it.

How we use cookies

A cookie is a small file which asks permission to be placed on your computer’s hard drive. We will not share your data with any other organisation without your permission, such permission if sought at all will be sought through separate and clear correspondence with you. The only exceptions to this are in the event that another organisation might take over our rights or responsibilities under our agreement with you to allow them to prepare for taking these over (after that, we may also allow that person or business to use and share your information on the same basis as us).

We also reserve the right to cooperate with law enforcement officials in the investigation of alleged unlawful activities of our website users or relating to our website users. We will have no legal liability for such disclosures of your information.

You may request details of personal information which we hold about you under General Data Protection Regulations 2018. If you believe that any information we are holding on you is incorrect or incomplete, or would like it removed, please write to or email us as soon as possible, at the above address. We will promptly correct any information found to be incorrect or comply with your request remove it.
